The Genesis Woods

… an biodiversity island!

The Genesis Woods, so called by his mentor, started to be conceived in 1996 from the commitment of on family, that dedicate their weekends to plant several varieties of trees on a 9 ha land extension. Currently this space contrasts will all the surrounding being a true island of biodiversity on a sea of forest dedicated to exploration.

Created with a sustainability purpose the Genesis Woods has:

  • an economic value – coming from the sawn wood, wood for heating, pasture and water for livestock, pine nuts, arbutus and honey-
  • an environmental value – coming from the transformation of a poor in nutrients soil in a richer soil, the feeding and shelter provided to the local wildlife, the local air purification and the reduction of the owners carbon footprint.
  • a social value – coming from the oxygen produced, the foment of the wildlife, the clean and filtered underground water storage, and the existence of an evasion space.

The Watermil Woods

… a man can make a difference!

The Watermil Woods was conceded from a man’s passion for trees. A sensible soul, a walker, a painter and a sculptor, who at some stage of his life began to gather, along with his life partner, tree’s seeds during their trekking walks. The wood began to be conceded in the couple’ small apartment were the seeds collected were meticulously cataloged, storage and germinated. When the opportunity arose, those seeds were used to create a live screen on the land elected by the couple to be their home.

Currently the trees have grown and there is no more available space for planting, but they continue to germinate trees seeds that they share with the neighboring properties.

This woods is currently a sustainable asset with:

  • economic value - coming directly from the products collected such as: sawn wood, wood for heating, olives for olive oil production and several varieties of fruit (walnuts, persimmons, apples, loquats, and so on ..) and indirectly form the value added to property valuation.
  • environmental value – added by the transformation of an abandoned land in a vigorous forest full of life and diversity, the feeding and shelter provided to the local wildlife, the local air purification and the reduction of owners’ carbon footprint.
  • social value - added comes from coming from the oxygen produced, the foment of the wildlife, the clean and filtered underground water storage, and the existence of an evasion space.
